This morning Lexi and I went on one of the best Adventure Clubs adventures yet.... picking organic pomegranates at Ganico organic farm. They were warm, friendly and great with the kids.
Ganico is a small, boutique farm in Muldersdrift. Best of all, they are certified organic by Ecocert. Their love of the farm and the fruit is really evident.
Lexi was very excited that she was allowed to carry pruning shears and cut her own pomegranates. She helped me seed one and then she ate the entire fruit herself. She calls them 'nature's sweets'. It was interesting to explain to her about the health benefits of pomegranate for children. I discovered some too. Aside from being a great antioxidant and being very high in immune boosting vitamins, it also:
Cures inflammation
Calms digestive problems
Kills intestinal worms and infections caused by them
Regulates fever
Helps fight plaque on the teeth
Cures anaemia
It's rich in potassium which helps muscle aches
